Van der Hoopstraat

Van der Hoopstraat

Full renovation of a 57 sqm apartment in De Stadsliedenburg in Amsterdam

When I entered this apartment for the first time, it was divided into three different rooms which all felt pretty small. The aim of the design was to open it up as much as possible to let the natural light flow in at every time of the day while keeping the possibility of privacy when needed.

A custom made closet with built in sliding doors became the main element of the design. When the doors are open, they disappear in the wall making the apartment look as one big open space. When the doors are closed, they become light dividers between the living and sleeping area, allowing for some privacy.

Last year I bought an apartment in Amsterdam which was quite dated and really needed a lot of work. Federica was an enormous help in the process of making it feel like home. Se helped me see beyond the state of the apartment at the time, and provided multiple well thought out options for a new layout and interior. She designed beautiful custom made interior which really elevates the space to a higher level and brings everything together. Her friendly but thorough approach was a great asset in sourcing contractors and seeing the work finished in a timely and qualitative manner.
